SchoolDistrict school district A collection of geographical regions. International organizations may have persons, other organizations, or countries as members. They may be political or commercial in nature. Each instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvWeI6ZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">SingleSiteOrganization</a> is an organization that has a single location (see <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViKIZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">physicalQuarters</a>). An element of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rwQrrFJwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">LocalChainOrganization</a> is an organization which is among the <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVi_v5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">subOrganizations</a> of a larger <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjpYJwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">ChainOrganization</a> with wider geographic scope. A local chain organization may be a corporation in its own right while still being a sub-organization of the larger organization whose franchising agreements control or constrain the business operations of the local organization. NationalOrganization national organization <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rwP3ld5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">NationalOrganization</a> is a specialization of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjVT5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Organization</a> whose scope of operations and ownership or membership is primarily confined to a particular <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViIeZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Country</a> (but to no smaller subdivision within that country - see <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rv744_5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">StateOrProvinceWideOrganization</a> and <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVju25wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">LocalOrganization</a>). Examples of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rwP3ld5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">NationalOrganization</a> are the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People in the United States, and the Red Guards and the Young Pioneers in China (PROC). retail store A specialization of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjeUZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">RetailOrganization</a>. Each instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVi__5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">RetailStore</a> is a local single-site organization (but not necessarily a stand-alone business, since it might be part of a chain of retail stores) which sells goods directly to consumers at the organization's <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViKIZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">physicalQuarters</a>. This is the collection of all and only those collections <code><b>COL</b></code> such that any thing's being an instance of <code><b>COL</b></code> depends on the current state of the <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjqoZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CycKB</a>. Such a <code><b>COL</b></code> corresponds to a property defined (at least partly) in terms of the contents, features, or implementation of the Cyc Knowledge Base itself, as opposed to a property that &quot;exists out there&quot; in the KB-independent world. <p/> For example, <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvV281JwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CycLAssertion</a> is a KB-dependent collection, membership in which requires of a given CycL sentence that it has in fact been asserted to the KB. <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViAoJwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CycLSentence</a> is also KB-dependent, as being a CycL sentence requires being composed (ultimately) out of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvu6KTZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CycLReifiedDenotationalTerm</a>s (and perhaps variables) -- i.e. terms that are currently reified in the KB.
