In each instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjuo5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">AppropriatingSomething</a>, an agent takes something that no one else has user rights over, such as air for breathing, or some object which at that time belongs to no one (for example, a dime lying in the street). AppropriatingSomething CapturingAnAnimal A specialization of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvrOVYpwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">PurposefulPhysicalAction</a>. In each instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVwPN5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CapturingAnAnimal</a>, an agent takes physical control of a (human or non-human) animal. Notable specializations of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVwPN5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CapturingAnAnimal</a> include <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvWBRUpwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Trapping</a> and <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rbX8ShiDNEdaAAACQJ5pZBw" class="cyc_term">ArrestingSomeone</a>. capturing an animal A specialization of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViMd5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Stealing</a>. In an instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvWKkr5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Stealing_Physical</a>, the perpetrator is physically at the location with the stolen goods when committing the crime. The perpetrator physically removes the goods. The owner of the goods may or may not be present. Thus, this collection includes all burglaries and stealing of cars from parking lots, as well as robberies and carjackings. In contrast, instances of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvWarQZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Stealing_Embezzlement</a> need not be instances of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvWKkr5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Stealing_Physical</a>. Stealing-Physical robbing Extradition extradition A specialization of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rTA-RjiDNEdaAAACQJ5pZBw" class="cyc_term">TransferOfControl</a>. In an instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvWLfGpwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Extradition</a>, a person who has been legally accused of wrongdoing is transferred from the custody of one regional government -- state, provincial, or national -- to the custody of another regional government which is deemed to have a superior right to prosecute the alleged criminal, where that right is usually based on a pre-existing treaty or law to which both governments subscribe. The accused is the <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rDbKaOuVmQdeTKaYmT-4jgg" class="cyc_term">transferredThing</a> in an extradition. The <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rv9UIFZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">from_Generic</a> is the government which originally had the person <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjlwZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">HeldCaptive</a>; the <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rwAyrYZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">to_Generic</a> is the government which gets custody as a result of the extradition. The extradition is performed by some authorized <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViAB5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Agent_PartiallyTangible</a>s of the governments involved (see <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjV_JwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">performedByPart</a>). stealing A specialization of both <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rLDgW8nm4QdefYcWqNwYIMA" class="cyc_term">GainingControl</a> and #$ActsCommonlyConsideredCriminal. In each instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViMd5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Stealing</a>, an agent (see the collection <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViAB5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Agent_PartiallyTangible</a>) takes something belonging to another agent without that agent's permission (and possibly without that agent's knowledge). Note that there may be some cases in which an agent takes something belonging to another agent without that agent's explicit permission that would nevertheless not be categorized as instances of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViMd5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Stealing</a>. For instance, a pair of agents may have an informal agreement or "understanding" that would cover casual "borrowing" from one another (and thus excuse it from being stealing). Stealing Stealing-Embezzlement A collection of events; a subcollection of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rrrEZIhzeEdaAAACQJ5GoQA" class="cyc_term">Stealing_InsideJob</a>. In an instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvWarQZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Stealing_Embezzlement</a>, an <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViAB5wpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Agent_PartiallyTangible</a> steals objects, usually money, which that agent was trusted not to steal. (It is because of that trust that the embezzler has some privileged access to the things stolen, which facilitates the embezzlement.) The perpetrator need not be in the same physical location with the stolen object during the stealing, since embezzlement is sometimes accomplished by manipulating ledger entries, account balances, bank deposits, funds transfers, and other financial data and activities, which can be done at a site remote from the money, rather than by physically removing the valuables. embezzling type of action that involves accessing something AccessingScriptType A collection of collections. Each instance of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjOaJwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">AccessingScriptType</a> is a type (i.e., a collection) of actions by which an agent may come to possess, or gain user rights to, some tangible thing. Instances of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjOaJwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">AccessingScriptType</a> include the collections <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjL2pwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Buying</a>, <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjXvZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">Renting</a>, and <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjPQpwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">BorrowingSomething</a>. taking something away poss transfer topic TakingSomethingAway-PossTransfer-Topic taking something away poss transfer topic TakingSomethingAway-PossTransfer-Topic A specialization of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rwIE23ZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">TimeDependentCollection</a> (q.v.). This is the collection of all and only those collections <code>COL</code> such that any thing's being an instance of <code>COL</code> depends on the current state of the <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvVjqoZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CycKB</a>. Such a <code>COL</code> corresponds to a property defined (at least partly) in terms of the contents, features, or implementation of the Cyc Knowledge Base itself, as opposed to a property that "exists out there" in the KB-independent world. For example, <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvV281JwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CycLAssertion</a> is a KB-dependent collection, membership in which requires of a given CycL sentence that it has in fact been asserted to the KB. <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvViAoJwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CycLSentence</a> is also KB-dependent, as being a CycL sentence requires being composed (ultimately) out of <a href="http://sw.opencyc.org/2008/06/10/concept/Mx4rvu6KTZwpEbGdrcN5Y29ycA" class="cyc_term">CycLReifiedDenotationalTerm</a>s (and perhaps variables) -- i.e. terms that are currently reified in the KB.
